So. Good.

11/12/10 Dinner @ Home

Yes, it's true. I haven't eaten anything in days, hence the lack of posts.  Actually I had some really kick ass food but it was at a "leadership offsite". So 1) I wasn't supposed to be using my phone since we were "offsite" and 2) it was really really busy. Instead you'll have to see my crazy tacos.

I wasn't in the mood to cook, go out, or even microwave anything but I managed to muster up enough energy to combine random stuff from the fridge.  Multi-grain Tortilla, Chicken, Avocado, Egg and Spinach.  It's no gourmet by any stretch, but wasn't too bad.

11/11/10 Lunch @ Butler and the chef

French sandwich thing that is probably not good for me but tastes sooo good. I think it's ham inside and cheese melted on the top.

11/9/2010 dinner @ home

I keep forgetting to photograph my food before eating it - but not today! eggplant, italian sausage, tomatoes, zucchini, onion, garlic, etc cooked in oil with a splash of wine. Threw it on top of some rotini, and grated some parmesan on top.

11/7/2010 Dinner @ Ryan's

Our friends Ryan and Carly invited us to their home for home cooked Afghani food. Everything was delicious and it was very clear they worked very hard for such a good outcome.

Pumpkin with yogurt, ground beef, and all sorts of spices. Incredible flavors.

The dish above over rice w/ lentils and spiced chicken breast.

Homemade rice pudding w/ Cinnamon, pistachio fragments, and I cannot recall the flavor that was added...

Beth brought pumpkin spiced cupcakes w/ homemade cream cheese frosting

11/7/2010 Breakfast @ Home

Beth whipped up some delicious French toast with blackberries and raspberries.

11/6/2010 Lunch @ Sam's Chowder House

We were in Half Moon Bay to do flowers for a wedding. We ate at Sam's Chowder House, where we had New England style clam chowder and a lobster roll so packed with lobster I took some of it off to eat separately.

11/5/2010 Dinner @ Home

We were both a bit sick Friday and we're feeling lazy. I also have a Costco portion of hamburger meat (which I love) so I decided to make a quick patty melt.

  • Patty, seasoned with Worcestershire, season all, and fresh chopped garlic
  • Butter toasted bread
  • Pickles
  • Cheddar
  • Mayo and Mustard

11/5/2010 Breakfast @ La Boulange

I love this restaurant, especially because they have outdoor seating (which is great as a dog owner). I had an omelette with avocado, ham, sweet red onions, and swiss. Beth had French toast with fruit. Both of us had great glasses of orange juice.

11/2/2010 Lunch @ Work

I've been making BBQ pork sandwiches w/ Sunday's dinner. Yum. Also, tons of fruit today (red grapes, raspberries, banana). I'm stuffed.

11/1/2010 Dinner @ Home

Last night I made shrimp scampi. Here's how I did it:

1.) Chopped a ton of garlic and red onions
2.) Started the pan to get a little olive oil and a little butter hot
3.) Threw in garlic and onions for a few minutes
4.) Threw in shrimp that had been seasoned w/ salt and pepper as well as more butter
5.) Squeezed some lemon over the top while shrimp cooked
6.) More butter!
7.) Opened fridge in search of white wine. Found some, but it was unopened and decent wine. So, I said "eh."
8.) Little more butter.
9.) Took out hot rotini noodles and topped with shrimp and buttery garlicy goodness.
10.) Added oven corn to mine (Beth didn't want it). It seemed like (and was!) a natural fit for the dish. The corn added a nice crunch.
11.) Finally, brought out the foccacia bread I baked w/ garlic and butter

Overall very tasty!

Pork Sirloin Tip smothered in garlic and slow cooking in oven

Gathering at table

Fingerling potatoes
I cooked a pork sirloin tip, 2 portions, purchased at Costco for $15 (for 4 portions, we just cooked 2). I seared it quickly in olive oil thinking I could make it crispy on the skin, but stopped b/c there a.) wasn't skin and b.) I knew I had to cook it for 2 more hours. I then seasoned it w/ salt and pepper, rosemary, and fresh chopped garlic and put in oven for 2 hours at 300 degrees. Just before it finished I squirted some lemon, but there wasn't any lemon in the taste. Ah well. (Next time I plan to inject the meat with marinade but I was too lazy to make a second trip to another grocery store).

We also did fingerling potatoes, covered in olive oil, thyme, garlic, and rosemary as well as salt and pepper. Cooked at 500 degrees for almost 40 minutes (the recipe was a lie).

Finally, we had delicious foccacia bread from costco with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We also had a tasty salad brought by friends. We drank a Pinot Noir (decent) and Beth made fresh sugar cookies to complete it.

Go Giants :)

10/28/2010 Breakfast @ Home

I almost never post my breakfast, which is typically oatmeal or cereal. Today? Strawberry Special K!

10/27/2010 Dinner @ Home

I made a patty melt last night and it was delicious! Here's what it contained:

Patty

  • Ground beef
  • Fresh chopped garlic
  • Chopped red onions
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Season all
I cooked them in vegetable oil and made sure they were wide and flat.

I put them on sandwich bread pan toasted in butter. I had melted brie, melted cheddar, 2 pickles, and sweet, honey pecan BBQ sauce. Really delicious.

Beth also made her Pear and Gorgonzola salad. So good!

10/23/2010 Dinner @ Home

Saturday night. I was on my own and wanted to finish some of the stuff in the fridge.

Fresh off the pan!

Onto a greasy, hot tortilla and topped with crumbly cotija cheese.
Overall...

  • Chorizo sausage
  • Crumbled Cotija cheese
  • Large, flour tortillas
  • Sautéed red onion
  • Sautéed chopped garlic
  • Hot Cholula hot sauce

10/23/2010 Breakfast @ Ella's

My mom was here for the morning so I took her, her friend, and Beth to Ella's. It's a pretty good breakfast place just up the street.

Beth's omelette...

Inside it had zuchini, goat cheese, tomatoes, bacon...

My scramble with big chunky sausage, roasted garlic, and muenster cheese (leeks too). So good.

Sticky bun!
